Secondary School Mindful Doodling Workshop
My Mindful doodle workshops support the Junior Cycle Wellbeing Guidelines in several ways, promoting the holistic development and well-being of students.
Benefits of doodling workshops
- Promoting Emotional Well-being (3.2, 3.3* ): Through the process of mindful doodling and affirmation card creation, students can express their emotions, fostering emotional awareness and encouraging positive self-expression, which is essential for emotional well-being.
- Encouraging Self-Expression and Creativity (3.3, 3.5*): My workshops provide a platform for students to express themselves creatively through doodling and affirmations, fostering self-confidence and encouraging creative expression, thereby contributing to their personal and social development.
- Fostering Resilience and Positive Thinking (3.3*): By creating affirmation cards, students can cultivate a positive mindset and develop a sense of resilience, empowering them to face challenges with a more positive outlook, in line with the guidelines' emphasis on fostering resilience and a positive school climate.
- Supporting a Student-Centred Approach (3.2, 3.5*): These workshops encourage a student-centred approach by allowing students to explore their own thoughts, feelings, and experiences through creative expression, promoting self-awareness and personal development.
- Encouraging Inclusivity and Diversity (3.5*): My workshops create a space that embraces inclusivity and diversity, allowing students to explore and celebrate their unique identities and experiences through their creative affirmations.

Workshop content
Through the creation of affirmation cards, using a mindful doodling technique , students can then express their emotions in a creative and individual way, encouraging positive self-expression.
- Introduction: ‘What are Affirmations and how can they positively impact our wellbeing?’
- Inspiration: Students doodle along with me as I demonstrate three inspirational doodles that will help release their creativity.
- Meditation: Students relax as I take them through a short guided meditation for positive self-expression.
- Affirmation Card Doodling: Students can enjoy the gentle music and quiet atmosphere as they doodle around their chosen affirmation.
The students will be encouraged to create as many cards as they wish which can then be used as part of a continual wellbeing routine.
I recommend one hour per class for this workshop.
Blank affirmation cards for students are provided.

Joanne Pasternak Holistic Therapist and Sound Bath Practitioner
I have booked Laura for several day retreats and an online workshop where she provided a fabulous mindful doodling experience for the participants. At my request, Laura was able to intertwine doodling with the ancient celtic celebrations of the Winter Solstice and Imbolc. She produced beautiful specially commissioned workbooks that connected seamlessly with the themes. Laura is a talented artist and is clearly passionate about what she does. She explained the benefits of doodling for mindfulness, stress reduction and connecting with creativity and weaved this into her own personal experience, which is very compelling. The process of doodling was extremely mindful, grounding and allow me to feel present in the moment. It also connects me back to childhood experience of drawing, colouring and doodling!
As a facilitator I am so glad I found Laura as she adds something really unique to my retreats and online classes. She has a beautiful calm energy and all of the participants really enjoyed the experience. I would highly recommend Laura for anyone who is looking to add something a bit different to their holistic offerings.
Thank you Laura!
